Use the Character Viewer to enter emoji, symbols, accented letters, and characters from other languages into your documents. In an app on your Mac, choose Edit Emoji & Symbols, or open the Character Viewer from the Input menu (if you set the option in Keyboard preferences). The Unicode / Alt Code symbols on this page are free to copy and use in your documents. Simply copy the symbol of your choice from the screen and pasted it onto your document. Certain symbols may not be compatible with all operating systems and may not appear on your document as they appear on this screen.
Did you know that dozens of special characters and symbols are present in the Apple iOS keyboard, which are not visible? Also, if you have do add a degree symbol to your text on iPhone, how would you do that? In this short post, I will show you how you can quickly type these special characters and symbols on your iPhone without installing any third-party keyboard app.
Using the method shown below you can see and insert accented characters (like é in café), extended punctuation (…), special symbols (°), ligatures (æ), currency symbols (₹) and more, right from your inbuilt iOS keyboard. At the end of this post, I have also listed special characters and symbols which are currently supported.
How to Type Special Characters and Symbols on iPhone or iPad
Step #1. When you are typing in Messages, Notes, Mail etc, touch and hold on the letter, number, or symbol, which has these character(s). See the iPhone special characters list below.
Step #2. You will see that a pop-up selector shows up.
Step #3.Drag your touch to select the desired unique character.
Note: If you leave/lift your touch the pop-up will disappear.
There are a lot of special characters and symbols which are currently supported. In this list below, on the right side of colon (:) is the key you need to press on your iPhone’s keyboard to see the symbols that are on the left of colon.

The paragraph mark (¶ ) is used when citing documents with sequentially numbered paragraphs (e.g., declarations or complaints). The section mark (§ ) is used when citing documents with numbered or lettered sections (e.g., statutes).

The paragraph mark is also known as a pilcrow .
A paragraph mark or section mark should always be followed by a nonbreaking space. The nonbreaking space acts like glue that keeps the mark joined with the numeric reference that follows.
Without the nonbreaking space, the mark and the reference can end up on separate lines or pages. This can confuse readers.

If the paragraph or section reference comes at the start of a sentence, don’t use the mark—spell out the whole word (Section 17200 applied to the transaction, but § 17500 did not ). In a reference to multiple paragraphs or sections, double the mark (¶¶ or §§ ).

Though these marks are used most frequently by legal and academic writers, there’s no reason others shouldn’t use them (See § 31.4.2 of the manual) . Why not? They look cool.

- Occasionally you see paragraph marks used within a solid block of text to denote internal paragraphs. This is archaic. If you need to denote real paragraphs (not references to paragraphs) then use a first-line indent or space between paragraphs.
